This was my 41st visit to the Grand National which is an event that I look forward to all year This is a great sporting icon which my wife and i were really looking forward to Trying to see the racing is an achievement in itself and i am talking about the actual horses in the flesh on the course My biggest gripe of all is that you are all literally penned in with knowhere to go which makes it like a cattle market However you gain knowledge and my advise to anyone thinking of going is pay more and get a guarenteed seat in one of the stands under cover and comfortable and enjoy the show that way if you cant do that DONT BOTHER GOING!!!
First time at the national, entry was fairly speedy, inside there's a lot of choice for food and drink and indoors and outdoors arenas, food was fairly average and booze was quite pricey.
Unfortunately the rain ruined the day meaning everyone was indoors making it very cramped and struggling for any space. Events quite well organised, the track and views are very good.
Toilets aren't great expect long queues. Transport was very well organised but due to sheer volume of people it can take a while to get home. Communication was excellent at all times inside and out.
On the course, the highlight is certainly the Champion Hurdle, but there is a lot more to do at the racecourse. Away from the course, those attending on the first day, will get a chance to look around the Cheltenham shopping village, a place to buy all the latest fashion items as well as some great horse racing memorabilia.
